About Mrs. Starling
Hello! Thank you for visiting my 8th Grade ELA classroom's website! I am excited to share the school year with you and your child!
My name is Georgia Starling, and I teach 8th grade at WJMS. I live in Brooklet, Georgia with my husband, Daniel, and our brand new baby boy, Will. We live in the country, so we have lots of room to enjoy being outside, which is something we really enjoy when I'm not working on materials for my classroom, and the weather isn't too hot!
I have always had a passion for teaching, and after graduating from Georgia Southern University in 2009, I decided to continue on and obtain a master's degree in teaching. I graduated in 2013 and began working at WJMS shortly after that. I also sponsor Student Council, and I enjoy it so much! It's really great to be able to work with the excellent students of our school outside of the classroom. WJMS Student Council sponsors many fundraisers and community service-based projects throughout the year in addition to everyone's favorite, our annual Spring Formal.
As far as my other passions go, teaching is truly the most obvious; I love being around my students, working with them, and watching them grow and learn. I also love being creative by painting, my version of graphic design, decorating, and shopping with my mama!
As far as my greatest passion, teaching, is concerned, It is amazing to see the transformation that takes place in 8th graders as they enter my class in the fall and leave in the spring ready to go to high school. I love my job and take it very seriously; I help mold the future! I believe that we all hold special strengths and talents and see my job as one way to find out how to utilize those talents best. I strive to make each student in my class feel important because all of my students are irreplaceable!
